Worms in the Wash
Sabellaria Spinulosa (or more commonly the Ross Worm) is a filter feeding marine worm that lives in tubes built of sand, gravel and shell fragments.
LandScope is working with CEFAS / DEFRA to map colonies of Sabellaria Spinulosa in the sublittoral zone of The Wash during the month of November.
Utilising high-frequency sidescan sonar and multiple frequency multibeam backscatter datasets, the s.v.’Investigator’ survey crew is diligently mapping the distribution of these colonies over an area of 120 km2.
