Advanced GIS Training at Orbit GT
Our GIS team have attended Advanced Training at Orbit Geospatial Technologies head office in Belgium this week, getting hands on with the latest advances to the suite of software as well as finding out about the exciting developments following Bentley Systems recent acquisition of Orbit GT.
The development team have been exceptionally busy with newly released features, the most noteworthy of which are:
- The introduction of projects in 3D Mapping Cloud – an additional level of data management which allows an organisation’s resource manager to prepare a collection of data sets and share them with colleagues for easier collaboration.
- The Orbit suite now includes support for meshes and 3D models. The primary function of models is to add in small features as annotations such as lamp posts, benches etc. The meshes are typically generated city models from UAV or aerial photography.
- Orbit 3D Mapping Cloud now supports OSGB (EPSG:27700).
- 3D Mapping Cloud now includes a data marketplace. This is an online space where organisations can list their 3D mapping data sets for sale and reuse by third parties. The market place is available now at: https://3dmapping.cloud/
