Abertawe
LandScope’s survey vessel “Investigator” has recently completed an integrated marine geophysical survey on the River Tawe, Swansea, supporting the council’s ongoing regeneration of the Lower Swansea Valley.
The survey brief called for the river wall to be scanned above and below the water, along with determining the extent and depth of bed within the river channel along the extent of the wall. To this end, we deployed a host of sensors, including:
- Ultra-high frequency R2Sonic multibeam echosounder
- Leica Pegasus Two Ultimate mobile mapping stem with dual antennas for Lidar and imagery
- Innomar SES-2000 Compact sub-bottom profiler
An extremely shallow bed and significant obstructions all had to be navigated. However, LandScope’s skipper and “Investigator “crew experienced in such environments were able to complete the survey with stunning results.
