A Moving Target

24th July, 2024

The creation of a 3D Digital Twin of a bridge is always challenging – especially when it is a suspension bridge. The inherent movement of the subject brings unique challenges.

LandScope recently produced a 3D point cloud of the Marlow suspension bridge over the River Thames. Working at night with a carriageway closure, multiple laser scanning systems were deployed to ensure minimal disruption. The high level of heritage architectural detail was specified in the point cloud capture, making for a rather long night.

We continue to build on our 18+ years of laser scanning surveys!
